Housewarming in the Nobleman’s estate

Housewarming party in the ancient Nobleman’s farmstead, founded 1854.

Today to our musem came our fans, our friends and those volunteers who have helped us in the construction of farm. We had given a housewarming party according to rites of our land.

Downstage action – an ancient Nobleman’s estate, which was built in 1854. This estate has a great history. It had been mooved from the Meleny village in Zhytomyr region, where it was added to the list of cultural heritage of the region.

Historical information tells, that in past it  had been belonged to the noble generations of Stretovych and Vasyanovych. Estate built of wide pine logs, and the chamber is so large, that could fit up to 50 persones.

Housewarming began with the dedication of the house. Father George also blessed the host and his son. When guests have come to the house, they began to strew it by the rye and wheat, keep saying: “Let God gives you all that good but not that, bad”.

From the ancient times it was difficult to imagine housewarming party without a cock. On the night before the cock have usually been left overnight because “evil force fears cock most off all”. It was thought – that cock is double of the host and if nothing bad won’t happened with him – the family could moove into a new house.

Warm, decorated oven, embroidered towels on the walls, and the happy smiles on the our fans’s faces – it made the holiday atmosphere full of sincerity and friendship.
